Welcome to a technical presentation on the PlayStation 3 from Sony. The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3 or for friends) was first introduced in the Japanese market in November 2006, a year after its main competitor, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft. The PS3 has been designed and developed by Sony Computer Entertainment as the successor to the hit game PlayStation 2 console, which to date has achieved a global sales total 97.5 million units (from January 2009). The PS3 however is designed to be more than a traditional game console. This is a home entertainment equipment can be used for all digital media to their needs and, as result is much higher than the specification of its predecessor. The main areas of progress in the previous generation PlayStation console are:

The technical center of the PS3 is a special design of the CPU (central processing unit), rather than the Cell processor (the acronym for Cell Broadband Engine Architecture) that was co – developed by Sony, Toshiba and IBM for four years from 2001 to 2005. The Cell processor combines a general purpose processor with additional processing elements which is used largely to accelerate multimedia and graphics processing capabilities, making it an ideal choice for use in a game or multimedia device, such as the PS3. The processor of the PS3 that gives the power to process and display High Definition gaming at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. The Cell processor is also intended to other uses in both the IBM and Toshiba, but that the PS3 represents the first commercial application.

The console has a built in hard drive, for the first Once in the PlayStation family. The size can range from 20 GB to 160 GB, depending on the specific model. The reader can also be easily upgraded by the user to 500 GB maximum capacity at the time of writing. This allows games to be partially installed on the integrated hard disk for faster loading and saving without need for external memory cards in the previous generation PlayStation. Along with Internet connectivity consoles hard drive can also serve as reservoirs for the content downloaded games and movies.

A key feature of the PS3 is the inclusion of a Blu-ray optical drive. In this sense, the console was well ahead of its time when introduced in 2006, no Blu-ray self was even running. The inclusion of a Blu Ray "free" in the PS3 is considered by many as the reason for the disappearance of the rival format from Toshiba HD, HD-DVD. The console is also capable of playing regular DVD's and CD's.

The PS3 has also introduced a number of other series with the PlayStation-Powered Bluetooth controllers, USB 2.0, HDMI output to connect to your HDTV and 802.11 network connection. An Ethernet port is also available, a feature carried over from the PS2. These network capability also allows the PS3 to receive regular updates Sony, usually to introduce new features, especially regarding the change of playing Blu-ray capabilities of the console.

The PS3 is sold currently £ 299.99 in Britain and $ 499.99 in the United States.
