Phase 1: 3 Sleeps until deployment

Filed under: Travelling, Planning — theedj @ 4:29 pm

Well, with Phase 1 of the invasion beginning this Thursday, I figured it was time to update. Alpha team will be in London, UK for 5 days before meeting with Brava team to invade the Netherlands and put our mark on Amsterdam. I can’t wait.

So, for London, even though we’ve been there, we’re going to see a slightly different side—at least that’s the hope. Some clubs, and lots of pubs. We’ll do a Guiness Evaluation Survey at most pubs so that we can tell you some of the best places to go for the meal in a glass. The tast can be affected in many ways by everything from the poor to the cleanliness of the glass. Nothing is worse then a glass that tastes and smells like bleach from the dishwasher.

Also a planned trip to Thorpe Park for some crazy riding of rollercoasters and rides. Love coasters!! Can’t wait, and hopefully the weather in the UK, NL and GE will cooperate with us and we’ll have some good fun.

Looking for suggestions on places to go, things to see, things to do in London, England; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Munich, Germany. We’ve got some things covered already, but the more suggestions, the better.

Hope to see you around, and check back for more updates!

Booked and ready to fly!

Filed under: Travelling, Planning — theedj @ 7:13 pm

Well, it’s all booked…sort of! I know that you’ve heard this before, but it really is almost completely booked. We have got the airfare booked for Joy from YYC-LGW on AirTransat, then the rest gets very similar. A quick transfer (OK, actually a few hours) to hop onto EasyJet and fly LGW-AMS. Getting to Munich is done too. EasyJet again from AMS-STN-MUC…much cheaper then attempting to fly direct! Really starting to like this EasyJet thing, though we’ll see how they operate once we get there. Then AirTransat again from MUC-YYZ direct. Bum around in YYZ for the night, then hop on WestJet YYZ-MCO for the every popular Walt Disney World! Oh yeah, still have to book that leg, and presumably the MCO-YYZ-YYC leg as well.

What about that “other guy” you ask? Well, standby is the way to go. Heading out a little earlier it’s the hope that through a colleague he’ll be flying in style on British Airways—at a very reduced rate! Hopefully the chance to fly on a 747, but a quick look makes it seem as though it’ll be a 777 instead. Oh well, it’s still BA!!

Flights confirmed…sort of.

Filed under: Travelling, Planning — theedj @ 5:41 pm

Well, can you believe that we’re still planning yet another trip?! We’ve got the airfare from London (STN) to Munich (MUC) booked confirmed on EasyJet, and our airfare from MUC to Toronto (YYZ) confirmed on AirTransat. I guess now the issue is determining where we’re going to stay, and the most important, actually getting there!

Confirmed travel is pretty much going to be the way to do it, but for a savings, stand-by will be used too. Probably fly on NorthWest Airlines to London, or AirTransat to London. Would’ve loved to fly on Zoom again, but they’re sold out! Guess that goes to show a bunch of things like the fact that they offer great service at a great price! Go Zoom! (Maybe that should be their new slogan—not Fly Zoom).

Getting excited about this one, and it’s just over 2 months away…guess we need to start training for that run!
